The FCT Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with the attempted infiltration of the NANS convention held on November 30.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Adeniran Femi, Ishaya Christopher, Obigi Emeka, Fatokun Ayodele, and Abdullahi Saliu.
Commissioner of Police of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Haruna Garba confirmed the arrest.
Garba who warned against any form of disturbance of public peace, unlawful assembly, and criminal infiltration of lawful assembly in the nation’s capital, said the suspects were promptly intercepted by security operatives, some of whom were handed over to the police by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Exhibits recovered from the suspects include a pump action gun, one locally made double barrel shotgun, two locally made pistols, one baretta pistol, fifteen (15) live ammunition, cartridges, an axe, twelve (12) cutlasses, mobile phones, a bag containing uniforms of security agencies and a Mazda car with Reg No. RBC909DP which contains some of the exhibits.
The police have also intensified efforts to arrest other suspects still at large.
The suspects would be charged in court on the conclusion of investigations.
