The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has swept 15 local government chairmanship positions, as announced by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission.
The Chief Returning Officer and Chairman of the State Electoral Commission, Daniel Cishak announced the PDP candidate as the winners in fifteen out of the seventeen local government councils where elections took place.
Speaking at the Local Government Collation Centre in Jos, Cishak said the party won in Barkin Ladi, Mikang, Shendam, Bassa, Riyom, Jos South, Jos East, Kanam, Qua’an Pan, Langtang South, Jos North, Mangu, Wase, Bokkos and Kanke local councils.
However, the results from Pankshin and Langtang North are yet to be declared.
The elected chairmen were later presented with their certificate of returns by the PLASIEC Chairman in his office.
The results are not different in the councillorship elections as the PDP won 222 councillorship seats across the 16 councils declared while the All Progressives Congress (APC) won 14 and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) with only one seat.
11 political parties participated in the local government elections across 17 local government areas of Plateau State.
