The Plateau State House of Assembly has received the audited financial statements of the state government and its 17 local government councils for the 2025 fiscal year.
The reports were submitted during plenary by the Office of the Auditor-General for the State and the Auditor-General for Local Governments, in line with Section 125 of the 1999 Constitution as amended and the Plateau State Audit Law of 2021.
Speaker of the House, Naanlong Gapyil, while laying the documents before lawmakers, commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for the timely submission. He described it as a demonstration of fiscal discipline, transparency and adherence to constitutional provisions.
In exercising its oversight functions, the Assembly committed the financial statements to the House Committee on Public Accounts and Petitions for detailed scrutiny.
The committee has been mandated to review all financial records to ensure compliance with approved estimates and public finance regulations, investigate possible irregularities or financial waste, and invite accounting officers for clarification where necessary, before presenting a final report to the Assembly.
