The Otabor family has confirmed the death of Ruth Otabor, younger sister to Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna.
Ruth, who recently graduated from Auchi Polytechnic, reportedly passed away on Sunday morning, weeks after surviving a horrific accident that left her badly injured.
Her death was confirmed in a statement by Eko Solicitors & Advocates on behalf of the family.
“With a heavy heart, the family regrets to announce the passing on to glory of their daughter, sister, and mother on this 31st Day of August, 2025 at about 06:30Hrs,” the statement read.
The family said they are devastated and pleaded for privacy as they mourn. Funeral details will be announced later
Ruth had been battling for her life since August 13, when a Dangote truck crushed her leg near Auchi Polytechnic, just six days after she completed her studies. She underwent an amputation, but her condition never fully recovered.
Her untimely passing has left friends, fans, and well-wishers in shock, as many took to social media to console Phyna and the grieving family
