Adeniyi Adeyemi, the individual at the center of the controversy over the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC, has said he never met the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, in person.
In an interview on Tuesday, Adeyemi said his alleged interactions with the Chief of Staff were facilitated solely by a deceased associate, Dolapo Tanimola.
When questioned about the nature of these communications, Adeyemi maintained that he had spoken with Gbajabiamila roughly three times but noted that none of these exchanges took place via video call or physical meeting.
The Presidency previously issued a formal disclaimer in June, categorically denying the existence of the PFIPC and distancing the Chief of Staff from Adeyemi. In response to accusations of bribery and misconduct leveled against him, Gbajabiamila has denied any involvement and has initiated legal action, including a N10 billion defamation suit.
Adeyemi, who has faced intense scrutiny over the legitimacy of the agency, insisted that he possesses documentary evidence to validate his claims. He expressed a willingness to cooperate with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which President Bola Tinubu recently tasked with investigating the matter.
“I am willing and ready to help security agencies or the panel set up by Mr. President to unravel the truth,” Adeyemi stated, adding that he intends to submit his documentation to the relevant authorities for verification.
The investigation, which has been granted a 30-day timeline by the President, aims to determine how the purported agency was established and whether any public officials were involved in its operations. As the inquiry progresses, the authorities are expected to analyze the documents presented by Adeyemi against official records to clarify the extent of the alleged impersonation and identify all parties involved in the scandal.
