The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has nullified its Jan. 15 three-man Ad-hoc Ward Delegate Congresses in Ekiti State.

The party disclosed this in a statement, jointly signed by its National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, and the National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, on resolutions reached at the NWC emergency meeting held over Ekiti State election matters in Abuja on Monday.

The NWC recalled that at its 542nd meeting held on Dec. 15, 2021, a Special Committee was set up to look into the issues arising from Ekiti State PDP Congresses and subsequently, the three-Man Ad-Hoc Ward Delegate Congresses held on Jan. 15.

The members, according to the party leaders, comprised members of the Board of Trustees (BoT), the Governors Forum, Leadership of the National Assembly and members of the NWC.

It noted that the decision was reached after the consideration of the petitions and complaints received from party stakeholders on the conduct of the state Congresses.

“The NWC, in an emergency meeting on Jan. 24, after a deliberation on the reports of the Special Committee and that of the Appeal Panel, resolved as follows:

“That all parties and stakeholders have agreed to abide by the decision of the Party in all matters relating to all issues concerning the position of the Party in Ekiti State.

”That the three-Man Ad-Hoc Ward Delegate Congresses in Ekiti State held on Jan. 15 is hereby nullified.

“That the Party’s Governorship Primary Election shall be conducted using the Statutory/Automatic Delegates list.

“That all pending court cases in all matters relating to the Congresses in Ekiti State must be withdrawn forthwith.

“That any person defiant to the decision to withdraw all pending court cases which contradicts the provisions of the Party’s Constitution, shall be referred to the Disciplinary Committee of the Party.”

The party assured all aspirants, stakeholders and party faithful of a free, fair, transparent and credible Governorship Primary Election in Ekiti State.
