The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday affirmed Mr David Ombugadu as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Nasarawa State.

Mr Abdulmaleek Danga, Chairman of the PDP Governorship Primary Electoral Committee in the state, announced the affirmation in Lafia.

Danga, who is also a member of the House of Representatives, said Ombugadu emerged through a consensus arrangement endorsed by party members.

“We are here today to affirm Dr David Ombugadu as the PDP governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections in Nasarawa State.

“He emerged through consensus and the process was peaceful,” he said.

Speaking shortly after the affirmation, Ombugadu appreciated party members for their support and endorsement, saying the development marked his transition from aspirant to candidate.

He said the affirmation followed extensive consultations with party elders, stakeholders and the party’s national leadership.

According to him, the party is united and ready to commence preparations for the 2027 governorship campaign.

“They have given me approval that this journey is one and the focus is one.

“Therefore, if you permit me, we are going straight to work. We don’t have time,” he said.

Ombugadu said the party had developed a blueprint for the state, adding that the document would soon be unveiled to the public.

He explained that the 2027 manifesto would build on the party’s 2019 and 2023 policy documents and focus on projects and programmes that would benefit residents of the state.

The PDP candidate commended party members for their loyalty and commitment over the years and urged supporters to prepare for an intensive campaign ahead of the election.

He also expressed confidence that the PDP would emerge victorious in the 2027 governorship poll.

“For those still doubting our party, look at the crowd. We are on the ballot and, by the grace of God, we will win in 2027,” Ombugadu said.
