The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has constituted 831-member 2023 Elections Campaign Council.

The Council is to handle the campaign for the presidential election, particularly in view of the presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar being from the state.

It will also handle the election of the party’s governorship candidate Ahmadu Fintiri who is the incumbent governor.

A statement by Mr Humwashi Wonosikou, Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, said the Council will indeed plan and manage the campaign of the party from the Presidency to the level of state legislature.

The Council is under the Chairmanship of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, with influential politician, Chief Joel Madaki, as Vice Chairman.

Barrister Awwal Mohammed Tukur, a son of a former national chairman of the party Bamangar Tukur, is the Director General for the campaign, while a former minister of state for health, Dr Aliyu Idi Hong is the secretary.

The Campaign Council is scheduled for inauguration on Monday, October 17, according to the statement.

The long list of the PDP campaign team for 2023 was released Friday only a couple of hours after a federal high court sitting in the state capital annulled the governorship primary of main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared that the party has no validly elected candidate for the 2023 governorship election.

The APC has been the party in the state with the best chances of possibly outperforming the ruling PDP at the 2023 governorship election.
