The Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, has formally declared his intention to contest the State Governorship position on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Adeniran who made the declaration in a statement, said his decision followed extensive consultations, reflection, and prayers.

He said his aspiration was motivated by a commitment to serve the people of the state and deepen the reforms initiated under the current government.

The governorship aspirant noted that his ambition was first publicly announced months earlier during a radio interview in the state, adding that the latest declaration formally signals his readiness to seek the PDP ticket for the 2027 election.

“I am offering myself to serve as Governor of Oyo State, not out of ambition but out of conviction; not for power, but for purpose; not to be celebrated, but to empower,” Adeniran said.

The OYOSUBEB chairman highlighted his long record in public service, noting that he had served in several strategic positions including Local Government Chairman, Commissioner, and board member at both state and federal levels.

According to him, those experiences have equipped him with the administrative capacity and grassroots understanding required to govern the state effectively.

He said his engagements across communities in Oyo State had provided him with first-hand insight into the diverse challenges confronting different parts of the state.

Adeniran also paid glowing tribute to Governor Seyi Makinde, describing him as a visionary leader whose policies have significantly transformed governance, infrastructure development, and social services in the state.

“I am stepping forward to consolidate the good works of Governor Seyi Makinde, my leader and principal. Continuity is the foundation of sustainable progress, and Oyo State deserves nothing less,” he said.

He emphasised that the achievements of the current administration, popularly known as the Omituntun agenda, must be preserved and expanded to sustain the momentum of development in the state.

“The people of Oyo State do not want to lose the benefits of this administration. The legacy of Omituntun bequeathed to our state must not and shall not die,” Adeniran said.

Outlining his development priorities, the governorship hopeful said his administration would focus on improving access to quality education, strengthening security, empowering young people, and expanding infrastructure.

“My vision is simple: a state where every child has access to quality education, where our youths do not have to leave home to find opportunity, and where security is guaranteed for every citizen,” he said.

Adeniran added that his aspiration reflects the collective hopes of various segments of society, including farmers, traders, teachers, artisans, healthcare workers, civil servants, and students across Oyo State.

He stressed that the civil service would remain central to his governance approach, promising policies that would improve welfare, strengthen professionalism, and reward innovation and merit within the public sector.

According to him, a capable and motivated civil service is essential for delivering effective governance and sustainable development.

The PDP aspirant also pledged to tackle youth unemployment by promoting entrepreneurship, attracting investments, and expanding opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, education, technology, and small-scale industries.

“Government must not only provide jobs but also create an enabling environment where businesses can grow and citizens can thrive productively,” he said.

Adeniran called on the people of the state to support his ambition, expressing confidence that collective efforts would sustain the progress achieved in recent years and secure a prosperous future for the state.

“I ask for your support, your prayers, and your trust. Together, we will continue and elevate the legacy of excellence already being built in Oyo State,” he added.
