Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, said the investment of his administration in security had made the state one of the safest in the country.
Makinde, represented by his Executive Assistant on Security Matters, Commissioner of Police (CP) Sunday Odukoya (rtd), disclosed this during the 2021 ‘ember’ months’ campaign and end-of-the-year special patrol flag-off held at New Garage, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The governor said he had put a lot of measures in place to ensure security in the state, saying the measures included purchase of operations vehicles for security agencies in the state, deployment of guards into the forests, lighting up of streets and others.
Also speaking, Zonal Commanding Officer, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Zone RD11HQ, comprising Oyo, Osun and Ondo states, Emmanuel Abe, said efforts to make roads safe must be collective.
He also said that officers of the zone had rescued 3,816 people within nine months in traffic crashes while 532 persons were killed.
