A governorship aspirant of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo State, Chief Saheed Oladele, and his running mate, Mrs Damola Jaiye, have defected to the African Action Congress (AAC).
Oladele, who resigned from SDP on Sept. 16, disclosed his defection in a statement by his Media Office on Thursday in Ibadan.
He said his decision was driven by his resolve to rescue Oyo people from “modern slavery, abject poverty, educational retrogression and poor development at local government level.”
The aspirant alleged that the state was at a precipice with its future at verge of being mortgaged.
According to him, his political vision aligns with people-centred principles championed by Omoyele Sowore, AAC presidential candidate for 2027.
He described AAC as a party with no factions and court cases, making it ideal platform for serious candidates.
Oladele urged Oyo residents and supporters to join AAC en masse, calling for greater youth participation in governance.
“The party is led by active and vibrant youths that have been fighting for the rights of Nigerians,” he said.
