The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects believed to be members of a human parts trafficking ring, with several body parts and charms recovered during coordinated raids.
The arrests were confirmed on Saturday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, who said the operation followed months of intelligence gathering and surveillance by the command’s monitoring unit.
According to the police, tactical operatives launched targeted operations at hideouts in Iseyin and Saki areas, catching the syndicate off guard.
During the search, officers recovered a suspected human heart, human flesh, fragments of a human skull and various assorted charms. All the items have been secured for forensic examination.
The suspects are currently in custody and are providing information to investigators regarding the sources, procurement networks and intended buyers of the human remains. The command said efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abimbola Olugbenga, commended the operatives for their professionalism and intelligence work.
He reassured residents that the command remains committed to dismantling criminal networks and upholding the sanctity of human life in the state.
