The Identity of member of National Youth Service Corps who was crushed to death by drunk articulated truck driver in Ibadan on Monday has been revealed.
The Corper has been identified as Abidakun Oluwatosin and had only recently resumed her primary assignment at Oyo State House of Assembly.
It was gathered that she was on her way home after day’s work alongside another corps member, who also recently resumed service at Assembly when unfortunate incident occurred around Agodi Gardens, behind Oyo State Government Secretariat.
Following incident, Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, expressed deep sorrow over death of the serving corps member.
Ogundoyin confirmed that deceased was on her way home after day’s work alongside another corps member, who also recently resumed service at Assembly, when unfortunate incident occurred.
The two corps members were reportedly riding on same motorcycle when an articulated truck rammed into them.
While Abidakun Oluwatosin died in the crash, her fellow corps member sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention at the hospital.
The Speaker described incident as painful and devastating loss, noting that death of young corps member was particularly heartbreaking given that she had only just begun her national service with hopes and aspirations for future.
Ogundoyin lamented that life of promising young Nigerian had been cut short in such tragic circumstances, describing the incident as a loss not only to her family and friends but also to Oyo State House of Assembly, where she had recently commenced her service year.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to bereaved family, friends, colleagues and fellow corps members of deceased, praying that Almighty God would grant them strength and fortitude to bear irreparable loss.
The Speaker also expressed concern over condition of surviving corps member, praying for speedy and complete recovery.
