The Oyo state House of Assembly on Monday impeached the state Deputy Governor, Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan.
The deputy governor was impeached around 11:30 am by the lawmakers.
The House of Assembly is dominated by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The lawmakers during the plenary on Monday announced that they impeached the deputy governor following the recommendation of the panel set up to investigate him.
Twenty-three of the 32 lawmakers in the Assembly endorsed his impeachment.
Olaniyan had been elected into office in 2019 with Governor Seyi Makinde under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party but had a falling out with the governor over time.
The differences between both men and their working relationship deteriorated and became virtually irreconcilable when the Deputy Governor dumped the PDP for the All Progressives Congress.
