Osun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the mysterious death of a security guard, identified as Basiru Aminu, who was discovered lifeless at his duty post in the Oke Ola area of Igbaye, Osun State.

According to local sources, Aminu’s body was found early on Tuesday morning around 7 a.m. by residents who quickly alerted the police to the incident.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer for the command, ASP Abiodun Ojelabi, said preliminary findings revealed no visible marks of violence on the deceased.

“It appears to be a sudden and natural death. The incident occurred at Oke Ola in Igbaye, where the deceased, who worked as a security man, was found dead this morning. One Fasasi Adebowale contacted the deceased’s brother to inform him of the situation,” Ojelabi said.

“The matter was reported to the police, and our officers visited the scene. After examining the body, we found no evidence of physical assault. However, investigations are ongoing, and an autopsy may be conducted to determine the exact cause of death,” he added.

The discovery of Aminu’s body reportedly caused panic and speculation across the community. While some residents suspect he may have been strangled, others believe he could have died from a sudden health-related complication.

A trader in the area, who preferred not to be named, told our correspondent that she was among the first people to arrive at the scene.

“We found his body lying motionless and immediately called the police. They came and took the body away. It’s very sad, and people are already saying different things about how he died,” she said.

Another resident, identified simply as Risikat, who claimed to know the deceased personally, expressed hope that the police investigation would reveal the truth behind his death.

“I believe the police will find out what really happened. It might have been a health issue, but we have to wait for the investigation to be completed,” she said.

The police have assured that the outcome of the investigation will be made public once concluded.
