Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said he will not shield criminals, including members of his family, and urged security agencies to arrest and prosecute anyone found culpable.
The governor stated this on Friday in Osogbo while receiving the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, at the Government House.
The meeting followed allegations by the IGP that the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, had informed him that some suspects were allegedly hiding in the Government House.
“If you see any of my people that committed a crime, arrest them. If it is my son who committed a crime, arrest him, let him learn his lesson, and that is what I am saying in front of the IGP,” Adeleke said.
He, however, accused some police officers of playing “games” in their duties. Citing the killing of a 14-year-old boy in Ilobu, the governor said an officer who arrested a suspect in the case was later transferred.
Adeleke commended the IGP for promising to tackle indiscipline in the force, but urged officers to remain professional and impartial. “Police is our friend. We are not fighting the police, but you have to do right,” he added
