Men of the Nigerian Police Force has again arrested Journalist ,activist, and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC),Omoyele Sowore in Abuja.
Swore was arrested on Thursday when leaving the Court of Appeal , Abuja after the hearing of an appeal he filed to challenge the ruling of the Federal High Court, which had declared one Leonard Nzenwa as the Acting Chairman of the (AAC).
Counsel to Sowore, Inihebe Effiong made a social media post at about 5 pm on Thursday ,notifying the public of his client’s ordeal.
“I just stepped out of the Court of Appeal in Abuja with Omoyele Sowore after our case only for the Police to lay ambush and arrest him outside the Court. He has been taken away (presumably to former SARS Office in Abuja).
“The Buhari regime is devoting resources to persecute and witch-hunt an unarmed citizen for demanding a better country while pampering terrorists who are killing Nigerians on a daily basis. This is dictatorship.
“We shall not be intimidated.”
Some minutes later ,he made another post complaining of how he was barred from accessing Sowore in the Police custody ,
“I have been denied access to Omoyele Sowore at the Abattoir (former SARS facility in Abuja). This regime is dishonest. If you believe that SARS has ended you’re mistaken. It is still the same cycle of impunity and lawlessness.”
Amnesty International , Revolution Movement and AAC leadership have called for the release of the activist.
