The family of the late founder of The Eagle Online, Oladotun Samson Oladipo, has assured readers, advertisers and partners that the publication will continue.
In a statement signed by Taiwo Oladipo for the family, they expressed appreciation to readers, colleagues, friends and partners who reached out following his sudden death on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
The family described his death as a devastating shock, noting that Dotun devoted a significant part of his life to journalism and founded The Eagle Online in 2012, building it into a respected digital news platform with loyal readership and strong advertiser confidence.
“He was deeply passionate about The Eagle Online and regarded it not merely as a business, but as a platform for responsible journalism and public service,” the statement said.
The family reassured the public that a business continuity plan put in place by the late publisher has been activated and is being refined to sustain the publication in line with his vision.
“We recognise that many people have invested their trust in The Eagle Online over the years. We do not take that trust for granted. Our intention is to preserve the legacy Dotun worked so hard to build,” the family said.
They also assured advertisers and commercial partners that existing relationships and commitments remain intact and solicited continued support, prayers and understanding as the family navigates the transition.
“Dotun may have left us, but the work to which he devoted so much of his life will continue. The Eagle Online will continue to fly,” the statement added.
