Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has called on those sponsoring insecurity in the country to desist and allow President Bola Tinubu to focus on governance.

He made the call on Tuesday in Benin during the flag-off of the APC campaign for the Edo South Senatorial District local government elections.

Okpebholo said recent incidents of kidnapping, banditry and terrorism were being orchestrated to undermine the President’s leadership.

He stressed that promoting insecurity would not secure political positions, adding that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock. The governor questioned the logic of those fomenting trouble, warning that if children are kidnapped, there will be no one left to govern.

Okpebholo also defended the President’s performance, stating that Tinubu has outperformed previous leaders and that the impact of fuel subsidy removal is evident in ongoing projects across the country, including Edo State.

He urged APC candidates in the forthcoming council elections to work hard, noting that their victories would build momentum for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, where it targets 2.5 million votes for Tinubu in the state.

Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa praised the governor’s commitment to youth inclusion, while APC state chairman Jarrett Tenebe described the party as the only viable political platform in Edo.
