The Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) has appointed Prof. Joshua Ogunwole as its new Vice Chancellor (VC).
The newly appointed fifth Chief Executive Officer of the 15-year-old university is expected to assume office tomorrow.
Ogunwole, a Professor of Soil Science, is taking over from a fellow Soil Scientist, Prof Abayomi Fasina, whose tenure ended yesterday.
Ogunwole, a seasoned administrator, had earlier had a successful tenure as the helmsman of a private University, Bowen, where he convincingly proved his mettle as a purposeful and transformative leader.
On his return to FUOYE from Bowen in 2023, he was appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor, Strategic Partnerships, Research Innovation and Linkages, until he was appointed to his current position.
The soil scientist is a cerebral and mercurial academician with a profoundly intimidating academic record that unarguably thrust him to the exalted office of FUOYE Vice Chancellor.
The new Vice Chancellor was born on July 23, 1967, in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, but hails from Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
A distinguished scholar who had worked in universities across the north and south divide, having taught at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Adamawa State University, Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (all in the north) before moving to FUOYE, then Bowe, and finally back to FUOYE in 2023.
The erudite scholar holds a B.Sc. in agriculture, M.Sc. and PhD in soil science from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
His academic journey is distinguished by a series of prestigious international fellowships and scholarly engagements that have elevated his professional standing globally.
Ogunwole’s distinguished academic and professional profile is further affirmed by his active engagement in several reputable scholarly and professional bodies, both locally and internationally.
