The Olorile of Orile Ifo, Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi who recently assaulted an elderly man, Oloye Areola Abraham, has been charged to court by the police on Tuesday.

The monarch in a two-minute viral video boasted of his influence over law enforcement agencies and threatened the 73-year old chief saying, “even if you die, we shall bury you and nothing will happen”.

In the video, the man was also seen kneeling on the road while being slapped and verbally abused by the monarch.

Reacting, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement on Tuesday, said the now suspended Oba, was slammed with a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and conduct likely to cause breach of public peace.

“He was granted bail while the case was adjourned to 06/03/2025. The police will continue to uphold the rule of law and the core values of the noble profession,” said Adejobi.

Oba Ogunjobi’s way to disgrace was paved when he was seen in a viral video leading an assault and raining curses on his victim.

He was heard threatening to kill or send the old man who pleaded that he was unwell to jail. He also boasted that he was in control of the police.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Government suspended Ogunjobi for six months.

“After the investigation conducted on the matter, the Kabiyesi has been suspended and stripped of the paraphernalia of the stool of Olorile-Ifo pending the determination of his culpability or otherwise on the allegation.

“The foregoing decision was reached by the Ministry in conjunction with the Egba Traditional Council in accordance with Section 52(1) of the Obas and Chiefs’ Law of Ogun State 2021,” the Ogun State Ministry of Local Govt and Chieftaincy Affairs Ministry said in the statement.
