In a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the government described the death as a monumental loss to Ogun State, Nigeria’s creative industry and the nation at large.
The statement said Ogogo was not only an accomplished actor but also a shining light whose talent, discipline and commitment helped to elevate Nigerian culture and project Yoruba heritage to audiences at home and abroad.
The government noted that throughout his illustrious career, the Ilaro-born actor distinguished himself with exceptional artistry, humility, dignity and respect for others. It added that he carried himself with uncommon grace and professionalism, earning the admiration of colleagues, fans and younger generations.
According to the statement, Ogogo remained a proud ambassador of Ogun State through his work in theatre, film and television, contributing immensely to the preservation and promotion of Nigeria’s cultural heritage, particularly Yoruba language, traditions and values.
“His passing has created a painful void that will be deeply felt not only by his immediate family and the people of Ilaro and Ogun State, but also by the Nigerian artistic community and millions of people who were inspired by his work,” the statement read.
The government extended heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, the people of Ilaro and his numerous fans across Nigeria and beyond.
“At this moment of grief, we celebrate the remarkable life he lived, the memories he created and the indelible legacy he leaves behind. His voice may have fallen silent, but his works, values and contributions to our cultural heritage will continue to speak for generations,” it added.
