Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has extended the ultimatum to return issued to the inmates that escaped from the two correctional facilities in Benin by one week,October 30,2020.

The Special Adviser on Media and Communication Strategy to the Governor Crusoe Osagie made the announcement in a statement on Friday, at the end of a security Meeting between the Governor and heads of security agencies in the state.

He said the extension of the ultimatum is as a result of the positive response from the prisoners, as a good number of them have since returned to the two correctional facilities.

Osagie added that the new window is to allow for more prisoners to return to the centres willingly.

He also announced that the Governor has reviewed the curfew time due to the improving security situation in the state.

“The governor has reviewed the curfew time in the state to commence from 6pm to 6am daily, the adjustment will take effect from Saturday, October 24, 2020.

” The security situation in the state is seen to be improving and we appreciate Edo people for adhering to government’s directives.”he said .

He reiterated the government’s commitment to the security of lives and property and it’s resolve to continue to work with security agencies to ensure peace and normalcy is fully restored in the state.
