The Minister of State for Education, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiubu has commended the Jigawa state Government for according more priority to the education sector.
The Minister made the statement while delivering his address at the Launching of Better Education Service Delivery for all, which took place at the Manpower Development Institute, in Dutse the state capital.
According to him, the state government’s achievement in the educational sector is remarkable, and the introduction of J-Teach, a replica of the Federal Government’s N-power program would go a long way in bridging the manpower challenge in the sector.
“I am indeed very delighted by His Excellency’s bold step to formally launch the the program. This is a clear demonstration of quality leadership and your personal commitment to education as well as your passion to revitalized the education sector to develop human capital in the state.” the Ministers said.
While speaking, the Jigawa state Governor Alhaji Muhammed Badaru Abubakar lauds the federal government for initiating the program, which according to him would address the challenge of access to quality education in the nation.
According to the Governor, the state in its bid to increase equitable access and quality delivery in the Basic education sub-sector has devoted to teacher recruitment in which 1,393 teachers were recruited in 2018 and soon 4000 would be engaged under the J-Teach program.
He continued “From 2015 to date, we have constructed and renovated 6,679 classrooms, bought 5,963 teachers’ furniture, 185,086 of 3 seater set pupils furniture, and 1,922 double-decker beds.”
“We have also constructed 634 hand pumps, 254 staff houses, 4,746 toilet cubicles, 8 hostels, 516 islamiyya blocks, and 6 admin blocks in our primary schools,” he added.
“The state has complied with the federal government initiative on school homegrown feeding of primary 1-3 pupils by replicating the same gesture for feeding of ECCDE and Primary 4-6 pupils in the state,” Badaru said.
