The Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority have initiated discussions to strengthen inter-agency collaboration aimed at improving support for air crash victims and their families.
The initiative was discussed during a strategic meeting in Abuja between the National Family Assistance Coordination Committee, led by NSIB Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance Funke Arowojobe, and NCAA officials led by Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Michael Achimugu.
The primary objective of the partnership is to align Nigeria’s emergency response procedures with the International Civil Aviation Organization standards. The program aims to ensure timely communication, preserve the dignity of victims, and provide structured institutional support during post-accident procedures.
NCAA representatives emphasized the importance of continuous training and personnel development to ensure operational readiness for emergency response. Both agencies agreed to pursue joint capacity-building programs, knowledge sharing, and stakeholder sensitization to build a sustainable family assistance framework across the aviation sector.
