Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri has congratulated the state Athletes for coming third in the just concluded National Sports Festival, Edo 2020.
Team Bayelsa finished third at the sports festival winning 56 gold medals , 55 silver, and 58 bronze.
While welcoming them back to the state ,the The Governor who said the state is proud of them said work begins in earnest towards getting the eagle at ASABA 2022.
“Let me on behalf of the government and good people of Bayelsa State congratulate you. You have made not only yourselves proud, but you have made Bayelsans and indeed the Ijaw race proud.
“This is just the beginning, you have an eaglet now, so what that tells you is that you have to go for the eagle. Now that you have come third, the preparation for the next resumes from tomorrow.
“That is the only way you will break your record again by next year when you go for the national sports festival in Delta State.
“We shall announce the date when your government will formally receive you. For now, welcome back and congratulations to the Commissioner, Daniel Igali, your Director of Sports, other officials, coaches and our great athletes.”
