The Bayelsa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has commissioned several infrastructure projects at its headquarters in Yenagoa to enhance personnel welfare and boost regional security operations.

The completed projects include a newly constructed Quarter Guard, a photo stand, and a fully activated medical sickbay. Additionally, the command held a groundbreaking ceremony to initiate construction on a new officers’ mess.

State Commandant Matthew Palmer stated that the new facilities represent a strategic investment in the workforce, aimed at fostering discipline, improving operational efficiency, and raising officer morale.

He noted that while the Quarter Guard stands as a symbol of the command’s readiness, the sickbay ensures the vital health and well-being of the personnel tasked with protecting lives and critical national infrastructure. The proposed officers’ mess is expected to provide a dedicated space for professional interaction and camaraderie.

Palmer credited the successful execution of the projects to the leadership of NSCDC Commandant-General, Prof. Abubakar Audi, and the supportive policies of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, alongside the collective efforts of the command’s personnel and regional stakeholders.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by senior officials from various security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Air Force.

Representatives at the event noted that the upgraded facilities will help strengthen inter-agency collaboration and improve overall security service delivery within Bayelsa State.
