Nigeria Revenue Service, NRS, has warned Nigerians against fake recruitment notice being circulated online in name of defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS.
Service raised alarm in public notice titled “Fraudulent Recruitment Notice”, posted on its official http://X.com page on Monday.
It said notice, titled “Federal Inland Revenue Service – FIRS Job Vacancy – Replacement”, had been circulating on social media and other platforms.
According to NRS, purported vacancy advert claims to offer employment opportunities within agency and asks interested applicants to submit their information to recruit@replacementnhrmt.org.
Agency said: “The NRS wishes to state categorically that the notice is fraudulent and did not emanate from the Nigeria Revenue Service.”
Service also reminded Nigerians that FIRS had been succeeded by NRS.
It stated: “Accordingly, any purported recruitment notice issued in the name of FIRS should be treated with caution and independently verified.”
NRS clarified that it had neither approved nor started recruitment exercise mentioned in circulating notice.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the NRS has not authorised or commenced the recruitment exercise referenced in the notice and has not appointed or authorised any individual, agent, consultant or third party to conduct any recruitment exercise on its behalf,” notice read.
Agency urged members of public to ignore notice and exercise caution when responding to recruitment-related messages or links.
“Any legitimate recruitment exercise undertaken by the Nigeria Revenue Service will be formally communicated through the Service’s official website and authorised communication channels,” it said.
