The Chairman of the North West Governors Forum and the Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari has called on Governors across the country to take responsibility of protecting the lives and property of residents irrespective of religion, tribe or any differences.

He stated this during a town hall meeting which was conveyed by the office of the National Security Adviser with a view to deliberating on various security challenges bedevilling the development of the region.

Masari said the Governors of North-West were making concerted effort to address all the security challenges affecting the region, hence the need for the total support and cooperation of all stakeholders to achieve the desired objective.

According to him, the meeting was initiated by the office of the National Security Adviser with the new service chiefs, security heads and the governors of northwest to discuss issues of Security in order to reorganize themselves on how best to confront the problem.

Governor Aminu Bello Masari restated the commitment of the Northwest governor in fulfilling their mandate of protecting lives and property of citizens, emphasising that, the governors would not fail.

He however reassured the people of northwest that their security was a priority.

The Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum Mr Simon Bako Lalong who welcomed the new service chiefs, prayed God to bring an end to all the security threats in the country.

Also speaking, the Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasiru El-rufai also assured people of the region that government was serious about the security of the people.

Governor Nasiru El-rufai said with the commitment of the Federal Government and the new service chiefs, the issue of insecurity would be addressed.

The National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (retired) said Federal Government was redoubling its commitment towards securing the lives and property of Nigerians.

Major General Babagana Monguno explained that the three tiers of government would be working together with the wider society, defence and security agencies to deal with the issue

He maintained that President, Muhammadu Buhari was deeply saddened about unwaranted loss of innocent lives in the country, and was committed to bringing the situation to an end.

Earlier in a remark, Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Lucky Irabor stated that a new strategy was in the pipeline to address the tide of security challenges across the country.

Earlier, the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Ahmad Nuhu Bamali noted that, it was high time for every Nigerian to contribute meaningfully towards ensuring lasting peace in the country.

The event had in attendance religious and traditional leaders as well as women and youth groups
