Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, was laid to rest in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the age of 66.
The actor was buried in accordance with Islamic rites as family members, friends, colleagues and residents of Ilaro gathered to pay their last respects to one of the most prominent figures in Yoruba-language cinema.
Funeral prayers were held earlier at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro, where members of the Ilaro Muslim Community conducted the Janazah rites.
Nollywood veterans including Yinka Quadri and Jide Kosoko were among the first to arrive in Ilaro to bid farewell to their colleague. Other prominent actors at the burial included Mister Latin, Dele Odule, Olaiya Igwe, Fathia Balogun and Kolawole Ajeyemi.
The burial came barely 24 hours after Ogogo’s death was announced. The actor died at about 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Tributes have continued to pour in for the late actor, who was celebrated for his decades-long contribution to the growth of Yoruba theatre and film.
