The family of late actress Temitope “Tope” Osoba has refuted social media claims about how she died, describing the reports as unverified, speculative and unauthorised.
In a statement shared on the actress’s official Instagram page, the family said they are saddened by the circulation of false information during an already painful time. They warned the public against spreading unconfirmed details and urged respect for their privacy.
Following Osoba’s passing, several online posts suggested she died from cancer linked to previous breast-cancer treatment. Other posts referenced her final WhatsApp status, “Ogo tuntun” meaning “new glory,” claiming she passed away soon after posting it.
The family asked everyone to disregard those rumours and stop sharing content that could compound their grief.
“On behalf of the family and loved ones of Temitope Osoba, we are deeply saddened by the spread of false and unverified reports concerning the passing of our beloved,” the statement read.
The family stressed that no official information had been released on the matter and appealed for privacy and understanding to mourn without the burden of rumours.
They assured the public that any information would be communicated through official channels and authorised representatives.
The Awonuga/Osoba family thanked the public for prayers and support.
