The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has made clearance from the National Electronic Registration Database (NERD) a compulsory requirement for all prospective corps members seeking mobilisation for national service.
In a public advisory, the scheme warned that eligible graduates who fail to obtain the required NERD clearance will not be mobilised for participation in the orientation exercise. Prospective corps members have been advised to complete the verification process early to prevent delays in their deployment.
The new directive comes as preparations intensify for the mobilisation of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ service year. The mandate signals a stricter verification regime intended to streamline registration procedures and maintain administrative integrity.
In addition to the registration requirements, the NYSC reiterated safety advisories for prospective corps members traveling to orientation camps across the country.
The scheme strongly cautioned against night travel, advising corps members to break their journeys when necessary and seek temporary shelter at approved military or security formations during multi-day trips.
