Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has expressed gratitude to the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for the approval given to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to intervene in the reconstruction of some Federal roads in the state.

The Governor said the intervention in the reconstruction of some critical federal roads in the state would help ease movement within the state and also reduce the risk of road crashes.

The Governor, noted that “Niger state has been at the receiving end for years now. Most of the traffic moving cargos to South-West and up North, pass through the state which has left the roads withing minna the state capital and other linked roads in bad condition”.

“If we can fix these roads it will help ease movement within the state, reduce travel time and risk of accidents. So I can’t wait to see the contractors fully mobilized to sites “, he added.

The state chief Executive said with the contracts already awarded, he was optimistic that work will begin on those roads without further delay.

The Governor also appreciated the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, the Federal Inland Revenue Service among other bodies involved in the strategic intervention.

Recall that Niger state was among the states to benefit from the strategic intervention of NNPC to reconstruct 21Federal roads in the country out of which 9 are in North Central with majority situated in Niger State.

Similiarly, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello had recently paid a thank you visit to the Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola at his office in Abuja on the Federal Government’s approval for roads reconstruction which the state is a beneficiary.

He also had a closed door meeting with the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami in his office on issues of mutual benefits to the Ministry and the State.
