The National Information Technology Development Agency, the Abuja Technology Village, and the National Centre for Artificial intelligence and Robotics, have started the National Adopted Village for Smart Agriculture Pilot Training Programme for 50 Nigerian youth corps members.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by NITDA.
The statement read in part, “With the mandate of ensuring all sectors of the Nation’s economy are supported and driven by technology, the National Information Technology Development Agency, in collaboration with Abuja Technology Village and the National Centre for Artificial intelligence and Robotics has kicked off the National Adopted Village for Smart Agriculture NAVSA Pilot Training Programme for 50 Nigerian Youth Corps Members.”
The Director-General, NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, who was represented by the agency’s Acting Director, Digital Economy Development Department, Salisu Kaka, encouraged the participants to explore agricpreneurship while leveraging the knowledge and skills gained from the six-month training to create jobs, as well as ensure increased productivity, profitability, food security and agriculture efficiency.
The National Coordinator, NCAIR, Garba Ya’u, was quoted as saying, “In the long run, we want to make sure you would not just be agriculturalists but tech agriculturalists.”
The representative of the Abuja Technology Village, Sarah Obayojie, was also quoted as saying, “I, therefore, charge you to use this opportunity to make a difference by participating in all the segments of the programme and be assured that this project will positively transform your lives
