The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has donated security and safety equipment to security agencies in Edo State as part of efforts to bolster ongoing efforts to combat insecurity under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The Executive Secretary of Edo State Emergency Management Agency (EdoSEMA), Hon. Jerry Idahosa, received the items on behalf of the Edo State Government during a handover ceremony which held at the Agency’s Headquarters in Benin City.

At the ceremony, Hon. Idahosa expressed appreciation to the Director-General of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, for including Edo State among the beneficiaries of the intervention.

He noted that the donation would complement the ongoing efforts of the Sen. Monday Okpebholo-led administration to strengthen security and protect lives and property across the State.

According to Hon. Idahosa, the Edo State Government has continued to implement proactive measures to improve public safety, and that the intervention would further enhance the operational capacity of security agencies.

“I want to use this opportunity to sincerely appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Director-General of NIMASA for finding Edo State worthy of this intervention. We are grateful for this gesture and look forward to more collaborations that will further equip our security agencies to effectively carry out their responsibilities.

“On behalf of the Edo State Government, EdoSEMA and the good people of Edo State, I say thank you. I am confident that the security personnel will make good use of these items in the interest of the safety and security of our people,” he said.

The representative of NIMASA, Mr. Eziashi Kester Nnabuife, said he donation formed part of the Agency’s CSR programme designed to support security agencies through EdoSEMA in enhancing security across the State.

He urged the beneficiary agencies to deploy the equipment judiciously and effectively in the discharge of their responsibilities to ensure the continued protection of lives and property.

Items distributed during the exercise included safety boots, handcuffs, knee guards, solar street lights among other security and safety equipment.

The beneficiary agencies included the Nigeria Police Force and its Anti-Bomb Squad, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Edo State Security Corps among others.
