The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced to have reached an agreement to sign German tactician, Bruno Labbadia, as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

Ademola Olajire, NFF’s Director of Communications, quoted the NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, to confirm the report.

The statement by Olajire quoted Sanusi as saying: “The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles.

“The appointment is with immediate effect.” He said.

Labbadia, a seasoned coach with a wealth of experience in European football, will sign a deal to lead the Super Eagles, bringing an end to the search for a new coach.

The 57-year-old German, who holds a UEFA Pro License, boasts an impressive coaching resume, having managed top-tier clubs like Hertha Berlin and VfB Stuttgart in the German Bundesliga.

Labbadia’s appointment aims to mark a new chapter for the Super Eagles, who have been seeking a return to continental dominance. His first assignment will be the crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

Labbadia, the sixth German to coach Nigeria, faces the daunting task of revitalizing a team that has underperformed in recent years. However, his track record suggests he’s up for the challenge.

As Labbadia begins his Nigerian adventure, fans and stakeholders eagerly await a new era of success for the Super Eagles.
