Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, President Ibrahim Musa Gusau and General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi have resigned from their positions amid mounting pressure over the administration of Nigerian football.
Sanusi confirmed that both resignations are genuine.
The development comes just weeks before the NFF’s Elective Congress scheduled for September 27 in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where a new Executive Committee is expected to be elected for the next four years.
Their departures follow growing criticism of the NFF leadership, particularly after the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The resignations represent a major leadership shake-up in Nigerian football and could affect preparations for the forthcoming NFF elections.
Reports also indicate that several members of the NFF Executive Committee have stepped down amid calls for restructuring.
