Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have intercepted illicit drugs worth over N3.5 billion in a series of intelligence-led operations across Lagos, Kano, Kwara, Oyo, Delta, Plateau and Edo states.*

In Lagos, NDLEA raided a warehouse in a residential compound at 20 Hakeem Dosumu Street, Ago Palace, Okota, between Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8. A total of 3,776 cartons containing 377,600 bottles of codeine-based syrup valued at over N2.6 billion were recovered.

In another operation on Wednesday, August 14, operatives raided the residence of a 55-year-old alleged kingpin, Shoremi Kayode, at 37 Ogundare Street, Ipaja Estate, Ipaja. They recovered 324 kilograms of Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis, with an estimated street value of N972 million. A Mercedes-Benz and a Toyota Corolla were also seized.

In Kwara, two suspects, Abubakar Adamu, 50, and Bilyaminu Nuhu, 30, were arrested on Thursday, August 13, at Kam Wire area of Ilorin with 55.96kg of skunk concealed in a truck marked DKA 350 XL.

In Oyo, 70-year-old Abdulfatai Oyelaran and Abdulrauf Ajadi, 50, were arrested on Wednesday, August 12, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. NDLEA said 52,000 ampoules of pentazocine injection and 6,000 ampoules of tramadol injection were recovered from their Toyota Sienna, FFA-115KA.

Along the Onitsha/Asaba Expressway on Thursday, August 13, Osaro Ikpoba, 43, and Samuel Godbless, 18, were arrested with 124,100 pills of tramadol; 786 bottles of codeine syrup; 2,598 tablets of rohypnol; 4,800 tablets of diazepam; 470 ampoules of pentazocine injection and 200 ampoules of tramadol injection.

In Delta, Emeka Tony, 50, was nabbed on Wednesday, August 12, along Kwale/Ozoro Expressway with 1,244 pieces of cartridges and N8,000,000 cash.

On Plateau, a Toyota Corolla, MKD 341 EA, was intercepted along Riyom/Jos Road with 239,490 caps of Tramaforce, a brand of tramadol. A suspect, Kasum Sherif, was arrested.

In Kano, six suspects were arrested on Monday, August 10, along Zaria-Kano Road. NDLEA recovered 728,958 pills of tramadol and rohypnol, 360 grams of cocaine, 99.8 grams of methamphetamine, 50 bottles of codeine syrup and 2.7kg of Loud, a synthetic cannabis.

On Friday, August 14, operatives also raided Zawaciki Gida Dubu in Kumbotso LGA, Kano, recovering 171 blocks of skunk weighing 106.8kg. Two suspects, Mustapha Iliya, 30, and Abdulwahab Abdulrashid, 24, were arrested.

In Edo, NDLEA destroyed 4,628.9775kg of skunk on two cannabis farms covering 1.851591 hectares at Ugboku/Igbanke forest, Orhionmwon LGA, on Wednesday, August 12. A suspect, Agholor Elebojie, 40, was arrested.

Also in Benin City, Kingsley Anigala, 28, was arrested on Friday, August 14, at Oluku with 25.857kg of Loud and 93 grams of methamphetamine.
