The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has foiled an attempt to smuggle a consignment of tramadol pills to the United Kingdom after the drugs were discovered hidden inside containers of black soap.
The anti-narcotics agency announced the seizure in a narco-trend update posted on Sunday by its Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, via his official X account.
According to the NDLEA, its operatives uncovered the concealed drugs during a routine interdiction operation in Lagos.
Babafemi also cautioned Nigerians against accepting parcels or luggage from others without verifying their contents, warning that such items could be used to traffic illicit substances.
“It’s difficult not to continue to warn people that they should avoid accepting any parcel or luggage from anyone,” he wrote.
Explaining the reason for the warning, he added, “Why? Here are pills of tramadol buried in black soap containers to get them to the UK, but the concealment was discovered by #ndlea_nigeria officers in Lagos”
