The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has accused Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of plotting to rig 2027 general elections using Artificial Intelligence, AI.

NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, said INEC plans to rig election in favour of All Progressives Congress, APC.

Recall that National Chairman of INEC, Joash Amupitan, while speaking at recent world press conference, had disclosed commission’s plan to use AI in 2027 general elections.

However, Director wondered how INEC can effectively use AI to resolve electoral issues when government can’t use tool to tackle insecurity.

In statement on X, NDC spokesman said: “INEC is plotting to rig 2027 general elections in favour of ruinous APC by deploying Artificial Intelligence, AI.

“Suddenly, AI has become attractive tool for election management body.

“Not even test run of efficiency, or otherwise, of AI tools in off-cycle elections? Why did INEC not test-run AI in Osun polls?”

“Why hurry to use AI in forthcoming general elections, just less than 100 days away? Something is amiss,” he added.
