The National Assembly has ordered the re-gazetting and issuance of Certified True Copies of Tax Acts to address alleged discrepancies in published versions.

This is contained in separate statements by House spokesman Akin Rotimi and Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, issued on Friday in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that discrepancies were observed between Acts passed by the legislature and versions published in the official gazette.

The affected laws include the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 and the Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025.

Others are the Joint Revenue Board of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2025 and the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act 2025.

The statements acknowledged public commentary on the passage, presidential assent and gazetting of the Acts.

They assured that the issues were being handled strictly within the National Assembly’s constitutional and statutory mandate.

“The commentary has referenced matters relating to harmonisation, presidential assent and versions published in the Official Gazette,” the statements said.

They added that leadership and management were addressing the matters within constitutional limits through an internal review.

“This review is being undertaken in line with the Constitution, the Acts Authentication Act and established parliamentary practice,” they said.

The assembly directed the Clerk to facilitate re-publication and issue certified true copies to stakeholders and the public on demand.

“This administrative action is intended solely to authenticate and formally reflect legislative decisions,” the statements said.

They stressed that the review did not imply any defect in legislative authority or concede errors by either chamber.

The National Assembly reaffirmed commitment to constitutionalism, separation of powers and due process.

It urged Nigerians to allow institutional processes to proceed without speculation or conjecture. (NAN)
