The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed concern over the delay in the payment of scholarships awarded through the Federal Scholarship Board, saying it has received numerous complaints from beneficiaries yet to receive their funds.

NANS President, Babatunde Akinteye, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the affected students were awarded scholarships from 2024 but have not been paid.

According to him, the volume of complaints has become a major concern, prompting the association to engage the Federal Scholarship Board to determine the cause of the delay.

“I have received a large number of complaints from students who were awarded scholarships through the Federal Scholarship Board since 2024 but are yet to receive their scholarship payments,” he said.

“The volume of complaints has become a serious concern, and I will be engaging the Federal Scholarship Board in the coming days to ascertain the cause of the delay and understand why these scholarship awardees have not been paid.”

Akinteye urged affected students to remain calm, assuring them that NANS would engage the relevant authorities to ensure the matter is resolved.

“I urge all affected awardees to remain calm and patient. We will engage the relevant authorities and get to the root of this matter.

“The welfare and rights of Nigerian students remain our priority, and we will continue to demand answers and accountability where necessary,” he added.
