The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to strengthen collaboration in safeguarding public health, protecting consumers, and reducing regulatory overlaps between both agencies.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, described the agreement as a strategic framework for enhanced synergy, cooperation, and information sharing in the discharge of both agencies’ mandates.
She emphasised the importance of strong implementation of the MoU, particularly in the areas of investigation, consumer protection, and regulatory coordination.
The Executive Vice Chairman of FCCPC, Mr. Tunji Bello, commended NAFDAC’s leadership and noted that the agreement represents a deliberate step towards more coordinated regulation within Nigeria’s consumer market.
The MoU, which runs for four years and can be renewed, is expected to establish effective mechanisms for sustained inter-agency collaboration to protect the public interest.
