The Nigerian Air Force has deployed the first batch of 86 Nigerian troops to Guinea-Bissau under the ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission.
The contingent, comprising 12 officers and 74 soldiers, left the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, aboard a NAF C-130 aircraft. Remaining personnel will be airlifted later.
Addressing them at the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Force Operations Base in Abuja, commanders urged the troops to uphold professionalism, discipline and integrity while on the mission.
The deployment underscores NAF’s airlift capacity and Nigeria’s leadership role in ECOWAS peacekeeping efforts aimed at promoting stability in West Africa.
