The striking workers of Ogun State on Friday rejected Governor Dapo Abiodun’s offers on the resolution to the indefinite strike declared over the unremitted N82bn contributory pension deductions spanning 14 years, among other concerns of the workers
The rejection was contained in a communique issued on Friday by the organised labour with signatories of 25 affiliate unions, after a seven-hour emergency meeting held in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The meeting, which started at 9am, ended around 4pm.
The organised labour said that some of the issues discussed during the meeting held with Abiodun on Thursday were the Contributory pension scheme, new minimum wage vis-à-vis consequential adjustment, eight years arrears of leave allowance, consequential adjustment on pension, as well as issues around 2023 and 2024 staff promotions.
The statement added that, “Council-in-session at the emergency meeting that spanned seven hours, 9am to 4pm, discussed extensively on each of the items outlined above with in-depth evaluation of the offer(s) of the Ogun State Government on all.
“However, it is expressly stated that the Council-in-session is displeased with the resolve of the state government on especially on item one, the Contributory Pension Scheme
“In effect, the initial position of the Congress subsists and the declared trade dispute as contained in the State Organised Labour letter of Monday, 14th July, 2025 stands.”
