The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), an Islamic human rights advocacy group, has praised the Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi, for his support of religious expression among Muslim women working in private security organizations.

In a statement issued on Thursday, MURIC’s Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, lauded Governor Namadi for instructing three private security companies operating in the state to permit their female Muslim employees to wear the hijab as part of their uniforms.

According to Akintola, the move reflects the governor’s strong understanding of Islamic values and his willingness to uphold them.

“Governor Umar Namadi demonstrates a rare resolve to resist cultural pressure and uphold principles of inclusivity, modesty, and dignity in the workplace,” Akintola stated.

“His recent directive highlights his commitment to creating a respectful environment for Muslim women.”

He further urged Muslim public officials across the country to openly and sincerely practice their faith, asserting that doing so fosters both divine favor and societal respect.

“At the same time,” Akintola added, “Muslim leaders must ensure they uphold the rights of non-Muslims in their workplaces.

” Islam commands justice and kindness to all people, regardless of their religious beliefs.”
