Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised multiple terrorists in a precision airstrike on a gathering of terrorist leaders in Zamfara State.
The operation took place on May 10, 2026, following intelligence reports indicating a high-level meeting of notorious terrorist leaders and commanders from across the West African sub-region.
Intelligence confirmed that the terrorists had assembled at a concealed location in Tumfa Village, Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The meeting venue was a building on the northern outskirts of the village, hidden within a densely vegetated area shielded by thick mango trees along a stream channel.
The gathering was reportedly aimed at coordinating attacks and criminal activities targeting innocent communities in the North West region.
Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, working closely with the Air Component, launched the precision airstrike on the identified terrorist hideout after acting swiftly on available intelligence. The strike successfully destroyed the structure that served as the terrorists’ meeting point.
A battle damage assessment confirmed that several terrorists were neutralised, while surviving elements fled the area in disarray.
Further aerial surveillance and intelligence revealed movements of suspected terrorist associates attempting to evacuate casualties from the location.
Ground troops have continued exploitation and clearance operations in the area to eliminate any fleeing terrorists and consolidate operational gains.
The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements threatening peace and security in the North West region.
Residents have been urged to support security agencies with timely and credible information to enhance the effectiveness of ongoing operations.
