Minna Residents Protest High Cost Of Living, Hardship

Women and Youths in Minna, the Niger state capital are currently staging a protest over the high cost of living in the state. 

As early as 7am on Monday, Feb. 5, a group of women blocked Minna-Bida Road at the popular Kpakungu roundabout to express their grievances over the rising cost of food items

The protesters said the rising cost of food items and poor government efforts to arrest the situation have forced them to block major roads so that the government will hear their cries and make life a lot easier for them.

Efforts by the police to control the crowd almost resulted in violence as protesters asked police to leave, forcing the police to fire several shots in the air.

Recalled that last week Some women also protested over high cost of living and Hike in price of flour.
