There are fears that some persons might have died after a building collapsed along Cemetery road, opposite the health centre in Ebute Metta, Lagos.
The 2-storey building which houses shops and residential apartments collapsed just after noon on Friday.
The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the incident in a statement said no life was lost.
He said, “Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, it was discovered that a three-storey building collapsed and the cause cannot be ascertained.
” The LASEMA Response Team led by Dops, LRU Ambulance Unit, Lasambus, LABSCA, Material Texting Agency, LASG fire service, the Police, and Ikeja Electric are responders at the scene of the incident. A search, rescue, and recovery operations have been concluded and one victim was rescued. There was no loss of life.”
Many persons are to have been trapped in the rubbles of the collapsed building.
The LASEMA officials cordoned off the area swiftly and commenced rescue operations immediately.
