The Labour Party (LP) has removed the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) Presidents, Ayuba Wabba and Festus Osifo from its Presidential Campaign list.
Also retired General John Enenche, ex-Director of Defence Information and Coordinator of Defence Media, has been dropped.
The National Chairman, Julius Abure made this known at the end of the Expanded National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja.
Accorsing to Abure, the names were erroneously included in the campaign council list hence the removal.
The party however announced plans to release a supplementary list for its 2023 presidential campaign council
The leadership, which met to review its political activities in recent times, made some resolutions and adjustments.
We acknowledge some omissions and misplacement of some names in the team.
“This will be corrected and a supplementary list released before the inauguration of the council.
“Also corrected is the erroneous inclusion of Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress members in the Campaign list.”
In reaction to the criticisms against the list, Abure reiterated the party’s commitment to gender, youth and social inclusion.
